5 must-watch offensive players in Chicago Bears preseason opener
2. Ja’Tyre Carter
Ja’Tyre Carter is now entering year three in the NFL. He is a former seventh-round pick from Southern, so it is not like the expectations for him were high. However, despite getting experience on the field he has not quite lived up to what the team would like to see from him.
With injuries to both Teven Jenkins and Nate Davis, the team saw plenty of Carter last year. They saw so much that they decided to sign Matt Pryor, Coleman Shelton, and Ryan Bates this offseason. One of them is going to start at center, but the rest are interior line depth options that push Carter down the totem pole.
Carter went from the first backup off of the bench to a possible cut candidate if he does not progress this summer. The team would like to see him maintain his development with the team, but they cannot sit around and wait for him. Can Carter get on the moving train?
