5 players the Chicago Bears cannot afford to lose in 2024
One of the most impressive things that the Chicago Bears bring into the 2024 season is better overall depth than they have had in recent years. They could lose a lot of players and have the depth to suffice. Still, there are some players that the Bears simply could not afford to lose, or things would go downhill. Who is most valuable to the team in 2024?
5. The Chicago Bears cannot lose Darnell Wright this year
This a big year for the big man from Tennessee. The Bears are expecting him to take a step forward, and even if that did not happen it would hurt the ceiling of this roster. Still, if Wright were to miss any period of time, the team would be in a bad spot.
Right now, they just have Kiram Amegadjie listed at tackle on their depth chart. Considering this is a rookie from Yale who missed the entire preseason it would be hard to see him active for week one. So, the Bears would have to turn to Matt Pryor if anything happened at tackle.
They signed Pryor because he could play four offensive line spots in a pinch and they knew that may have to be the case. Still, the dropoff from a rising top-ten pick to a guard who can play tackle in a pinch would be devastating for the roster.
With that in mind, the Bears could not afford an injury to Braxton Jones early in the season as well, although the dropoff from Jones to Pryor is not quite as significant.
