The Chicago Bears lost an ugly game to the Houston Texans 19-13. This gave fans a feeling that they have felt far too many times before with this team. So many fans thought that drafting Caleb Williams meant nights like this were over, but here we are. However, there is a reason for fans to remain optimistic and believe that while this game was ugly, bright days remain in the future.

5. Caleb Williams will have rookie mistakes this year

Caleb Williams was not nearly good enough in this game for the Bears to win. Heck, Caleb Williams has not been good enough in his career for the Bears to do anything so far. Williams did complete more than 50% of his passes, and he did go over 100 yards which are improvements from last week.

Still, 23-37 for 174 yards with two interceptions and seven sacks is not the stat line that he will want to be remembered by. Still, we have to remember that while he was a number one overall pick, and there was a lot of hype behind him, he is still just a rookie and mistakes will happen.

Last year, he was playing in the wide-open Pac-12, where he could scramble and make off-platform passes and they would go for big gains. Now, defenders are sacking him and picking him off on the same plays. He is going to learn the differences and the speed of the game and grow.

Williams is going to progress, and as he progresses, the interceptions will turn into throwaways, and then eventually, they will turn into completions as Williams processes the game faster. If you thought Williams would come out and set the world on fire, you were thinking too highly. The only thought now should be that he looked better than last week, and for a rookie that is really all that fans should be looking for.
