5 things we must see from the Chicago Bears in Week 3
The Chicago Bears receivers have to get the ball in their hands quickly
While the deep shots are important, they are just a part of the game that we have to see. Williams has completed just 56% of his passes this season. That has to improve if the Bears are going to buy into his potential in the NFL. That can start with getting him a few layups.
Shane Waldron did that last week, but it ended with the first play going to Gerald Everett. Everett has three short catches for zero yards. So, while the idea does make sense, the move is not to get the ball to Everett but to get the ball to the skilled receivers.
Keenan Allen will miss this game again, but both D.J. Moore and Rome Odunze will play. Both are thicker wide receivers, and they can drag a cornerback, making a weak tackle attempt.
As we noted, the cornerbacks are not good and cannot make these plays consistently. If Moore is able to catch a ball or two at the line and turn it upfield for 10 yards, these cornerbacks will begin to press. Once that happens, the top can come off. Look for the Bears to explode down the field, but look for it to start with a layup for two.
