6 Chicago Bears who are key to a victory over the Texans
TJ Edwards, LB
In Week 1, TJ Edwards was a beast. He was all over the field. In fact, he finished with 15 tackles (10 solos). Edwards played well against the run and the pass. He is one of the better coverage linebackers in the league and having him in the middle helps take away a big part of opposing teams' playbooks.
With how the Texans ran the ball last week with Joe Mixon, and even CJ Stroud a few times, the Bears need an enforcer in the middle. Edwards can be that guy for them this year based on how he played last season and how he started this season. I wouldn't worry about using someone as a spy with Stroud under center. He is not like the other former Ohio State quarterback who is starting this week. Stroud started 15 games in 2023 and finished with less than 200 yards rushing. He isn't a massively dangerous rushing threat, but Edwards has the closing speed and knowledge to stop him either way.
With many young players on the defensive side of the ball, having a player like Edwards is very beneficial. He brings more to the game than just his play on the field. He is a leader and chosen captain for a reason. If the Bears have any chance at winning this Sunday night, then Edwards is one of two others on defense who must show up and play lights-out football.
