A blockbuster consensus of who NFL analysts believe the Chicago Bears draft at No. 9

The Chicago Bears are almost guaranteed to take Caleb Williams with the first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, but will the team do at 1.09? We look at the consensus of 15 NFL Draft analysts who have created mock drafts for the Bears.

The two consensus Chicago Bears picks at 1.09 amongst analysts

As I mentioned, of the 15 analysts, eight mocks had a name mentioned more than once. What's interesting is that of those eight mock drafts, only two other names were mentioned.

Jared Verse, DE | Florida State

My top defensive end prospect is Jared Verse. Seeing his name listed multiple times definitely gets me excited. That said, he wasn't the number one overall consensus. Instead, he comes in at number two with three of the 15 analysts mocking Verse to the Chicago Bears.

Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports talks about how Verse could be a trade-down target, but in his mock, he said the Bears didn't have a trade partner and decided to go with Verse anyway. Saivion Mixson of The Sporting News had the top three receivers go off the board before nine and talks about how Verse will fit in nicely opposite of Montez Sweat. Finally, Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz of USA Today talks about how the Bears know how difficult it is to find premium pass rushers. He thinks Verse could quickly make his mark opposite of Montez Sweat.

Rome Odunze, WR | Washington

Well, I think many fans will be excited if this player ends up on the Bears roster. The number one consensus player amongst the 15 analysts listed is Rome Odunze. He is mocked to the Chicago Bears in five of the 15 drafts.

Will Brinson of CBS Sports thinks it makes sense to pair Caleb Williams with a young wideout. Dane Brugler of The Athletic thinks Poles could be enticed to trade back, but when they see Odunze available they can't pass up his highlight reel. Jared Dubin of CBS Sports thinks giving Williams a trio of DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, and Rome Odunze is one of the most enviable situations imaginable.

Ryan Fowler of the Draft Network thinks Odunze has the skill set to dominate for a long time at the NFL level. He believes many teams have Odunze ranked as high as Marvin Harrison, Jr. Personally, I think that's crazy but Odunze would be a solid consolation prize. Finally, Sean Hammond of the Shaw Local News Network also has Odunze mocked to the Bears at 1.09. He too thinks Ryan Poles could consider trading down but chooses not to seeing Odunze is still available.
