The Chicago Bears' Week 1 win over the Tennessee Titans wasn't pretty. In fact, it was one of the uglier wins the franchise has had in quite some time.
For those who were around during the infamous Dennis Green game in prime time, where the Arizona Cardinals coach shouted, "The Bears are who we thought they were!" this one had similar vibes to it.
Chicago didn't score a single offensive touchdown and ended up with 24 points just like they did in that game against the Cardinals. The defense did most of the heavy lifting. Their quarterback had a tough day, completed just 14 passes (hello, Rex Grossman) and the offense didn't score a single touchdown.
Still, Caleb Williams and the Bears pulled out the win thanks to a signature defensive performance. Between the interceptions off Titans quarterback Will Levis and the blocked punt returned for a touchdown, Chicago got it done, and that's what matters.
Speaking of Levis' interceptions, though, there was none more key to the game than the one taken back for a touchdown by cornerback Tyrique Stevenson.
When Levis was on his way down to the ground, he tossed up a prayer in order to avoid a sack (that he should have taken, anyway). Stevenson politely took the gift and raced back to the end zone for what would be the game-winning score.
In the middle of the play, after Levis had thrown the pick, but before Stevenson was in the end zone, the Titans quarterback was caught in the act of despair.
The internet is going to have fun with this one, and it's off to a good start thanks to The Simpsons NFL page on X (Twitter).
Even Bears defensive end DeMarcus Walker had some fun with the meme.
The Bears defense has a much tougher quarterback test in Week 2
As fun as it is to laugh at Levis' misfortune and to enjoy this Bears win, reality is going to set in real quickly as Chicago's defense has to prepare for a much tougher test next week.
It's another Year 2 quarterback, but this time, it's reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year C.J. Stroud, and it's a road game in prime time. The Bears will have to figure out a way to get their offense going in a hurry, or the Houston Texans might run away with this one.
That is, of course, unless the Bears defense comes up big once again.
Chicago's defense is going to be tested a lot more against Houston, though, as their weapons are a whole lot better than Tennessee's. From Stroud, to running back Joe MIxon (who went for 159 yards in his Texans debut), to the receiving core featuring Stefon Diggs, Nico Collins and Tank Dell ... this Texans offense is loaded.
