Bears fans are going to hate PFF's bizarre rookie QB projections so much
I've spent so much of this summer hating on Bleacher Report, I almost forgot about Pro Football Focus. They've sat back quietly and let B/R take all the attention this summer, but now that football's actually starting in earnest, they obviously crave the action. At least, that's the only reason I can think of that would explain this graphic.
I have at least a half-dozen immediate questions about this graphic, so let's drive right in.
PFF's Rookie QB Projections Is An Impressive Piece of Performance Art
Here are my thoughts about this wonderfully informative graphic that is definitely not internet bait. In honor of this wonderful jpeg's theme, they're not ordered in any coherent way,
1. Jayden Daniels is going to throw for over 4,000 yards?! The same Jayden Daniels who only threw for over 3,000 yards in college once? The same Jayden Daniels who's WR2 is Olamide Zaccheaus? OK! Even if it's total yards, that's a huge number.
2. Bo Nix, lol.
3. The good news is that in this scenario, Williams breaks the Bears' single-season passing record as a rookie. That's exciting! And, in this scenario, he's doing it in the final week of the season: a road game in Green Bay. (Unless he's sitting it out because the Bears have already clinched the division, of course.) Barely getting past the record in the final game of the year isn't exactly a ringing endorsement of how his season went compared to expectations, but it's not like Bears fans are going to care.
4. Williams is going to barely beat Drake Maye, who may not even win the Patriots' starting job out of camp and will be throwing to maybe the worst group of skill players in the league? In this scenario Maye's either the next Justin Herbert, or Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze missed like, eight games each.
5. Bo Nix, lol.
