Bears fans can laugh as analytics still favor Justin Fields over Jordan Love

Packer fans won't like this one bit. But, stats don't lie.

This offseason has been marked by a significant changing of the guard for the Chicago Bears. For three seasons, Justin Fields was the guy in Chicago. But, when the Bears ended up with the no. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, everybody knew what would eventually happen.

Chicago went on to trade Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers and ultimately select Caleb Williams to be their franchise cornerstone.

Now, with Williams under center and putting on a show during camp and the preseason, fans can't help but enter into the 2024 season with more excitement than ever.

Meanwhile, Fields is currently competing for the Steelers' starting job with veteran Russell Wilson, in a battle Bears fans are hoping he wins. Remember, if Fields plays 51 percent of regular season snaps, Chicago gets a fourth-round pick instead of a sixth rounder.

Justin Fields was a more accurate passer than Jordan Love in 2023

Speaking of Fields, a new set of analytical data was released this week from Warren Sharp, and believe it or not, he ranks a whole lot higher than a division rival quarterback who just became the highest-paid in the NFL.

For all the talk about how Jordan Love finished last season, he still played poor enough over the first half to finish high on the list of inaccurate passers over the 2023 campaign. If you remember, over the first half of the year, Love was often criticized for his erratic play. He was anything but consistent in the accuracy department.

Then, he got it together over the second half of the season and, in a roundabout way, the Packers chose to pay him for an 8-game sample size.

We'll see how that pans out for the Packers, as the league now has a full season of film on Love.

Meanwhile, Fields' percentage of incompletions which came from inaccurate passes is almost a full six percent lower than Love's was in 2023. It's funny how the narrative had become just how bad of a passer Fields was, how he couldn't see the field well, etc.

While Fields still has his flaws, this is proof that when he did let it rip, he threw a more accurate ball than Love more often than not.

Packer fans are all over Love and how Green Bay seemingly got themselves a third franchise quarterback in as many tries, but let's not act like Love is the second coming of Aaron Rodgers. He's still got plenty to prove.

Again, after a full year of film on Love, we'll see how the league adjusts and, in turn, how Love can adjust.
