4. Will there be a determination on the Chicago Bears' right guard?

The Chicago Bears have probably landed on their week one starting center. It did not seem as though they wanted Coleman Shelton to win the job, but injuries to both Nate Davis and Ryan Bates forced their hand.

Shelton has gotten so much work from Caleb Williams that he started working with him last week. It would be silly to scrap that progress now.

Still, the two people competing for right guard are Bates and Davis. Davis has not held the job because he has hardly seen the field. Bates was supposed to play center but has had to cover for the injured Davis. Then, he got hurt himself.

Of the two, it is now sounding as if Davis has a chance to play this week and Bates does not. If Davis is healthy enough to play, he has to see the field this week, even if no other starters see a snap. Remember how rusty he looked in week one of last year?

Beyond that, Bill Murray, Jerome Carvin, Ja’Tyre Carter and Matt Pryor will all be worth watching, because the issues with Davis and Bates are unlikely to go away throughout the season.
