2. The Chicago Bears have a competition for the backup slot

The Chicago Bears have seen Kyler Gordon practice this week, which is great. However, Gordon has missed time in each of the past two seasons, and he did already miss a good chunk of time this summer. The backup to him will be important.

Greg Stroman and Josh Blackwell have taken time backing up the injured Gordon, so the Bears love the depth that they have here. Still, who will be in the backup slot if something happens? That will be worth watching over the next two weeks.

Blackwell has 54 snaps with 36 in the slot, while Stroman has 42 total snaps with just 10 in the slot. It is notable that the Bears have given Stroman 32 snaps on the outside, but most of those came in week one, while most of the 18 snaps that Blackwell played outside were last week.

Which cornerback gets the first crack in the slot, and whether they both get chances on the outside will be worth watching because Jaylon Jones has played well in the preseason as well. All three cornerbacks may force the Bears to keep seven overall when cut downs come.
