3. Darnell Mooney over 27.5 yards for the Chicago Bears
There are good reasons the line is this low. The Carolina Panthers surprisingly do a very good job at suppressing passing stats due to their defensive scheme. Beyond that, Darnell Mooney only averages 34 yards per game right now, and he has gone under this total three times. However, he has gone over this total four times in a row, and there is a good chance that he will hit this over again.
He has been excelling more in the last four games because he is finally healthy and back to full strength. He had a serious foot injury last year hold him back, and he missed the entire offseason. In this recent span, he is averaging 51 yards per game and just had his biggest outing of the season with five catches for 82 yards.
Some of that had to do with the New Orleans Saints being poor in the slot. While Carolina has a good pass defense, they will be tested this week. CJ Henderson is out this week, so the Panthers may start DeCaprio Bootle on the outside. They had been starting Troy Hill in the slot, but last week, it was Jammie Robinson taking a lot of the work in there. Hill is a long-standing veteran, and Robinson is a rookie. At the Panthers record, it makes sense to let the rookie play.
So, Mooney is playing better, he is earning trust from Tyson Bagent, he just had success in a plus matchup, and now he gets Jammie Robinson in one of the first big moments of his career. Mooney should get back to his average of 34 yards at the least.
