10 biggest questions facing Chicago Bears in 2023 season
3. Is the Chicago Bears interior offensive line doomed from the start?
The Chicago Bears season has not even started, and they already have major offensive line questions. Teven Jenkins is on the IR and will miss the first four weeks of the season. Nate Davis missed about a month this offseason and has not played in the preseason. It is not a huge deal, besides the idea of him being in a new scheme, with a new quarterback, on a team with a rookie at right tackle beside him.
We do not even know who the center beside him is. Lucas Patrick is the option if he can practice, which is questionable these days. Then, there is Dan Feeney, who may have to be an option, but he was just traded for about a week ago. Cody Whitehair was the option at center, but he was never the long-term solution. He already has a hand issue, and he has to step in for Teven Jenkins anyway.
So, the center is back to left guard, the right guard has not played with a rookie right tackle, and we do not know who the center will be next to him. At least their fifth-round second-year left tackle, who had flashes but was not great as a rookie is the most locked-down option on the line.
