Caleb Williams will help the Bears debunk rookie quarterback myths

There seems to be a bit of crying going on in the Chicago Bears social media world. What makes me grind my gears is when people share an opinion based on half the evidence.

Nobody is perfect. I tend to act like I am when it comes to football, but I can admit when I'm wrong with the best of them. People have the right to put down the Bears for what they have been over the last 20 years. But as a whole, the Bears are still one of the kings. Not an opinion. Do you know who the top four NFL franchises are by total wins?

- Green Bay Packers 799 wins
- Chicago Bears 793 wins
- New York Giants 721 wins
- Pittsburgh Steelers 671 wins

I get it. The Bears have been bad for a while. It took two Hall of Fame quarterbacks to pass the Bears in total wins. That's over 40 years of football. Again, I'm not using that as an excuse, but calling them a bad franchise is silly. They were historically great until the 1990s.

Now, onto this rookie passing record thing. Mitch Trubisky holds the Chicago Bears rookie passing record. In 2017, Trubisky passed for 2193 yards. I don't want to get into the touchdown debate. But those numbers are also better than people think. Mostly because before this new generation of GMs, most didn't start rookie quarterbacks unless they had to. Let's look at a few rookie passing leaders for some teams.

- Packers: Babe Parilli, 1952, 1416 yards over 12 games.

- Giants: Daniel Jones, 2019, 3027 yards over 13 games.

-Steelers: Ben Roethlisberger, 2004, 2622 yards over 14 games.

I wanted to stick with the same-aged teams that we discussed earlier. Big Ben was outshined by Danny Dimes, but we know Ben will be in the Hall of Fame. Will Jones? The Packers have fewer rookie passing stats than the Bears' top four rookie leaders.

All in all, before you argue that your team rocks or another sucks at something specific, make sure you check your math. Otherwise, you will end up in arguments like Big Keith and I.
