Pick No. 115: The Chicago Bears should have drafted Roschon Johnson

I have started to come around to the Roschon Johnson pick. He was not my top option at the running back position at the time. I was higher on prospects Chase Brown and Israel Abanikanda -- both went in the fifth round. When I watch Brown and Abanikanda, both have the ability to hit home runs. They are better suited for an outside-zone running scheme. They are both more explosive and have better top-end speed.

What Roschon Johnson brings to the table is strength and power. Johnson is a better pass-blocker than both of them though and I have to think that played a big part in selecting him. Adding Darnell Wright to protect the right side of the line and Roschon Johnson to pick up blitzes should give Justin Fields more time to survey the field in 2023. Plus, Johnson is able to pick up the tough yards. He refuses to go down and runs through defenders.

Roschon Johnson does not have home-run hitting speed or even an elite burst to get to the outside. He is a solid pass-catcher though and I think he will quickly become the Bears' third-down back this season.
