Chicago Bears Draft Pick No. 9: Paris Johnson, Jr., OT - Ohio State

No more games. No more rumors. It is time for the Chicago Bears to do the right thing and bring in a first-round offensive tackle. Ryan Poles gave Justin Fields a new wide receiver group and now he's adding protection by drafting Paris Johnson, Jr. Johnson could play left tackle while Braxton Jones can move to the right. If the coaching staff would prefer Jones stay on the left side, then Johnson could play on the right instead. Either way, having both Johnson and Jones improves the line immediately.

The upside of Paris Johnson is why I think Ryan Poles goes with him over a guy like Peter Skoronski. We have seen the traits that Poles and his staff like for each position and length is the one that shows up under offensive tackle. With an arm length of over 36 inches and a 6'6" frame, Paris Johnson has plenty of length. A player like Peter Skoronski might be the most technically sound, but he lacks length in more than just his arm length. This pick could also be Broderick Jones if Johnson is no longer available.

The Chicago Bears need to find a way to anchor the offensive line. The addition of Paris Johnson can do just that. Ryan Poles added Nate Davis at right guard, the team already looks better on the interior. We will need to see what happens with the center position, Cody Whitehair and Teven Jenkins. For now, onto the next round.
