Fans might not like seeing the Bears wait until their last pick to address the edge rusher position, but that's just how the cards fell. Hopefully, Chicago can make some significant moves at defensive end during free agency. There will be some great options along the defensive line to hit the open market, and that's where the Bears will have to build here.

We're not quite sure which, if any, of the current defensive ends on the roster will stick around. But, there's a chance that any one of them will be playing for another team next season.

But, in the fifth round, Chicago does come home with Wake Forest defensive end Jasheen Davis. The Bears get a pass rusher with solid collegiate production, as Davis ended the 2022 season with 14 tackles for loss and 7.0 sacks on the year. So far in 20223, Davis has posted 7.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks, pacing for an even better season as he heads into the pros.

One of Davis' best attributes comes with his overall speed and quickness. His first step is excellent, but his closing speed on the quarterback and ball carriers is just as good. The Bears get a solid rotational player here in the middle of the draft.
