With the 2023-2024 NFL season still yet to start, there is a lot of time before we begin to think about the 2024 NFL Draft. With three picks in the top 50 and two first-round picks, the Chicago Bears have some toys to play with this time. Assuming the Bears don't make any significant roster moves throughout the season, this is how I believe they will go about the draft.

Using the Pro Football Networks draft simulator they have the Chicago Bears with the 5th,12th, and 44th picks. The first two picks both belong to the Cardinals and they find themselves with a new QB and WR1 in Caleb Williams and Marvin Harrison Jr. What a duo! With the Cardinals taking Williams, they will be forced to trade current QB Kyler Murry and send him to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 7th overall pick.

Chicago Bears Draft Pick No. 5: Jared Verse, EDGE - Florida St.

Jared Verse is currently rated as the number-one edge rusher in the class by most experts and is expected to have a massive year for the Seminoles. With nine sacks and 47 tackles last year, it's hard not to like the production already. At this point in his college career, for both the Seminoles and the Albany Great Danes Verse has 20 sacks and 85 pressers.

NFLDRAFTBUZZ says he has an explosive bull rush with initial quickness and good flexibility. His only concerns are weight and allowing linemen to get at his chest a little too quickly. At 6-4, 251 pounds he is a similar size to last year's top edge rusher Will Anderson Jr.

The Bears are still looking for that number one edge rusher and Verse could come in and make an immitted impact on a defense that should only be getting better and better.
