Chicago Bears 53-man roster projection after preseason week two
Defensive Line (8): Montez Sweat, Gervon Dexter, Andrew Billings, DeMarcus Walker, Zacch Pickens, Byron Cowart, Austin Booker, Jacob Martin
If the Bears go lighter on offense, either at offensive line or running back they may want to add some depth here. The starting four is locked in and Zacch Pickens and Austin Booker have shown enough to be rotational piece. Cowart has outplayed Michael Dwumfour so far in the preseason, and should have an inside shot at a roster spot. The question comes down to Jacob Martin.
Martin has been injured and hardly practiced in the past couple of weeks. Still, the team knows what they have in much more than Dominique Robinson and Daniel Hardy. More than that, the Bears can place Martin on IR with a designation to return if he makes the initial 53-man roster. Both Robinson and Hardy are likely to clear waivers and circle back to the roster if needed.
Linebacker (5): Tremaine Edmunds, TJ Edwards, Jack Sanborn, Amen Ogbongbemiga, Micah Baskerville
The top four are set in and look good. Baskerville has done enough to make it as a fifth linebacker. He has not only flashed with impact plays on defense, he has shown well on special teams.
The only question is Noah Sewell. However, he has been injured over the past couple of weeks, and the Bears may even end his season with an IR designation. They also could see him get cut and circle back to the practice squad. The question should be whether he makes it with Baskerville, not over him at this point.
