The Chicago Bears' second preseason game ended with an emphatic win over the Buffalo Bills. Of course, wins don't matter in the preseason, but it's still nice to see a 2-0 record regardless.
The Bears had several impressive performances from guys on the roster bubble. Some guaranteed locks also showed out, like rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, who completed 4-of-7 passes for 95 yards and rushed once for 13 yards. UDFA running back Ian Wheeler did his best to prove he belongs, taking five carries for 43 yards and finding the end zone twice.
On the other hand, some players failed to take advantage of opportunities and may now find themselves on the chopping block. Now that there are only three preseason games, every game is that much more important. Today, let's take another stab at predicting the team's final roster after the first preseason game.
Quarterback (2): Caleb Williams, Tyson Bagent
After Saturday, it's hard to make any changes to the QB position. Caleb Williams had a great start and Tyson Bagent was fine in relief. Neither Bretty Rypien nor Austin Reed had many opportunities to impress.
Bagent completed 5-of-8 passes for 47 yards while Reed was 2-of-4 for 50 yards. Rypien only attempted two passes and completed one of them for 10 yards. It'll be interesting to see if Reed or Rypien can do more next week to make it interesting, but for now, it's hard to see how Bagent isn't in the lead at QB2.
