Chicago Bears 53-man roster projection following preseason Week 1

Safety (4): Jaquan Brisker, Kevin Byard III, Jonathan Owens, Quindell Johnson

Jaquan Brisker and Kevin Byard III will be the starters at safety, while Jonathan Owens provides a solid depth option. The final spot will likely come down to Elijah Hicks or Quindell Johnson, and Johnson has simply outperformed Hicks in the preseason.

With six corners on the roster, I don't see the team keeping five safeties.

Specialists (3): Cairo Santos (K), Tory Taylor (P), Patrick Scales (LS)

The group of specialists is set. Santos has no competition, Scales has been extremely reliable in his career, and Taylor was a highly-drafted punter. Not much drama developing here.
