Bears 7-Round Mock Draft: Ryan Poles finds shocking value early on
By Ryan Heckman
With the first of those two picks in the fifth round received from New Orleans, the Bears not only stay on the defensive line, but close to home when they draft Iowa defensive lineman Logan Lee. At 6-foot-5, 281 pounds, Lee is undersized for an interior lineman but might find a home on the edge. Because of that potential versatility, he's an intriguing pick here for Chicago.
Lee was a 3-year starter at Iowa and never missed a game due to injury. Those two things, alone, make him well-worth the pick. He'll find a role.
The Bears stay in the Big Ten with their final pick and add some depth on the interior offensive line. With Ryan Bates and Coleman Shelton, they appear to have the center position locked down for now. But, Michigan's Drake Nugent may be a good stash candidate for down the line.
Nugent is certainly undersized at 6-foot-1, 298 pounds. But, he packs a strong core and comes in as someone who has started 39 games at prominent programs like Michigan and Stanford. At the very least, Nugent is worth developing as a solid backup.
