Since Matt Eberflus addressed the media earlier on Monday, revealing that Chicago Bears' rookie wide receiver Rome Odunze suffered a knee injury during Sunday's victory over the Tennessee Titans, fans were eagerly waiting for the next update.

While Eberflus told reporters that he would next provide an update on Wednesday, word spread around league circles ahead of the Monday Night Football Game between the New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers.

Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report was the first to report that the Bears believe Odunze suffered a Grade 1 knee sprain on Sunday.

Rome Odunze avoids a serious injury during Chicago Bears' rookie debut.

Considering the alternatives that were on the table after Eberflus' vague update earlier on Monday, this is the best-case scenario for the Bears, as it means that Odunze should be able to play again this season. It also speaks to the fact that Eberflus was not quick to reveal the injury, a sign that the Bears already thought that it wasn't a serious injury.

Odunze will seek a second opinion, but the general timeline is 2-4 weeks. That means that Odunze almost certainly will not be active for the Bears' Week 2 game against the Houston Texans on Sunday night.

After being inactive on Sunday, it seems like the Bears will have Tyler Scott active on Sunday. Scott being a healthy scratch for the team's opener was a surprise considering he was getting regular play during Training Camp as the team's fourth wide receiver. It's also worth noting that the Bears passed the ball 29 times on Sunday, a sign that Scott wasn't inactive because of the team's desire to run the ball.

Along those lines, the injury to Odunze likely extends Velus Jones Jr.'s shelf life with the Bears. Jones' roster spot is already in question given his fumble during a kickoff return on Sunday.
