Chicago Bears 2015 NFL Draft: Adrian Amos, S

Selection: Fifth Round (142nd overall)

Yes, he left the Chicago Bears after his rookie season, and yes, he joined their dreaded rival Green Bay Packers. That’s grounds for being hated by the Bears fanbase. But make no mistake, Amos was comfortably the best selection of an otherwise meager draft class.

Being the best pick of the 2015 Draft for the Bears is the equivalent of being valedictorian with a 2.8 GPA; it’s not that you earned the title as much as everyone else lost it. Kevin White at seventh overall was a brutal pick, and second-round pick Eddie Goldman ended up being more trouble than he was worth.

All-in-all, it’s hard to refute Amos’ claim as the best of this draft. Part of the reason losing Amos upset so many fans was that he had become an unsung hero on the defense. He complimented Eddie Jackson perfectly and played a bland, but disciplined style of football. In a sport where consistency is vital, Amos has been the epitome.

For all of his flaws as a drafter and general manager in general, Pace had a sweet spot for late-round safeties. Amos is currently a free agent and will likely play for his third team in 2023.
