Chicago Bears Draft Target: Tyree Wilson, DE - Texas Tech

The one guy on this list who is most likely not to fall to nine is Tyree Wilson. That said, there are reports that he's dealing with a foot injury and that has led to him not participating in the Texas Tech Pro Day. Reports are that he is going to hold a special workout prior to the 2023 NFL Draft.

The thing that I struggle with regarding Tyree Wilson is how far he has climbed draft boards while Myles Murphy has fallen. When you look at the length of Wilson, you can't help but get excited. He is 6'6" and 270 pounds. He has long arms too at 35-5/8". When you watch his film, he uses that length to get to the quarterback. My issue with him though is his get-up or burst off the ball. It is slow to me too often when I watch his game film. If he was more explosive off the ball, Wilson would be the top prospect in this draft -- even more so than Will Anderson, Jr. or any of the quarterbacks.

Corey Wootton made mention of this same dilemma regarding Wilson on one of the CHGO Bears podcasts a few weeks back. The one thing he said though, and I am paraphrasing, that I was unaware of, is that burst is not something many players can learn or improve upon at this point in their career. I'd have to think that if I am seeing this on his film, other draft scouts are seeing it too.

Wilson is still very gifted and worthy of being in talks as a top-10 prospect. However, I do think his floor is a little lower than the next guy on my list. This is a good time to mention, these prospects are not in a specific order. That said, some general managers and scouts believe in drafting for the upside.
