Chicago Bears Draft Target: Christain Gonzalez, CB - Oregon

The other corner that I have ranked fairly equally with Devon Witherspoon is Christian Gonzalez out of Oregon. Gonzalez has a bigger frame than Witherspoon. He stands 6'1" and weighs just under 200 pounds. He has some amazing hip fluidity to his game that keeps him square with receivers and gives him the ability to watch and track the quarterback. This helped him come away with four interceptions in 2022. He also returned those four interceptions for a combined 118 yards.

While being targeted, Gonzalez has not had the same success as Witherspoon, but quarterbacks still only saw a 61% completion percentage and a passer rating of 74.7. Gonzalez uses his length efficiently. He may struggle some against bigger, stronger wide receivers. However, with a year in the weight room, I'd expect Gonzalez to level off that disadvantage.

If Ryan Poles wants to look at adding a corner early, one of these two would be the best option. I know corner is a need, but I would still prefer that Poles look to either the defensive line, offensive line or possibly wide receiver.
