Could the Chicago Bears have one of the best rushing attacks in football again?

The 2023-2024 Chicago Bears should be a much-improved team after the offseason they had. Bringing in a ton of talent on both sides of the ball with guys like D.J Moore, Nate Davis, Tremaine Edmunds, T.J. Edwards, Darnell Wright, and Gravon Dexters just to name a few guys.

With this large upgrade in talent, both sides of the ball should improve from where they were last year. But the offense has improved much more than the defense and it has the potential to be really scary to go up against. But the biggest thing teams are going to need to worry about is the Bear's rushing attack again.

Chicago Bears Running Attack

The Bears had the best rushing attacks in the NFL last year generating just over 3,000 total rushing yards with the second-closest team being the Ravens with just a little over 2,700 rushing yards. It's not likely that the Bears will repeat being the top rushing team again in 2023 but to stay in the top five is within the cards.

Justin Fields is still one of the most dangerous players in the league with the ball in his hands and an inch of daylight. Setting the single-game rushing record for a quarterback and being only the third QB ever the rush for over 1,000 yards ever in the NFL is going to be a tough act to follow.

With both Fields and head coach Matt Ederflus saying they would like to see him rush less you can expect his numbers to be lower this time around. I would say you can expect Fields to put in around 600 rushing yards and about 6 rushing touchdowns. Both are down for last year but still great numbers.

Khalil Herbert is now being looked at as RB1 with the departure of David Montgomery who he split carries with last season. Montgomery had 80 more rushing attempts last season over Herbert with only 70 more rushing yards. Herbert is primed to take that next step as a lead back even with a loaded running back room. Expect Herbert to get about 200 rushing attempts and to get around 1,000 yards rushing with about six rushing touchdowns.

D'Onta Foreman as the number two back for the Bears is huge. Taking a look at his numbers from last year he had more rushing yards than Montgomery and Herbert while also playing in fewer games. Foreman didn't really get much of a chance till the Carolina Panthers traded Christian McCaffrey away and got his first real start in week seven where he put up 118 rushing yards and finished the season with a little over 900 rushing yards. You should expect around 100 carries and about 600 rushing yards with about four rushing touchdowns.

Rookie running back Roschon Johnson hasn't played a snap for the Bears but is generating a lot of attention already. The fourth-round pick played at Texas alongside Bijan Robinson who was taken by the Falcons in the first round. Many scouts believe that if Johnson didn't play behind Robinson he would have been a higher pick in the draft. With his low level of snaps in college, Johnson has a lot of treads still left on the tires.

Johnson is patient with letting the holes open up and is powerful enough to run people over. Johnson should get anywhere from 50 to 80 rushes this season and should put in around 400 to 500 rushing yards with a least 2 to 4 rushing touchdowns.

The Chicago Bears rushing attack will be strong again this year and with the additions to the O-line as well this should be fun to watch with this new three-headed monster the Bears have
