Did the Chicago Bears lose the Chase Claypool trade?

As of now, most people believe that the Pittsburgh Steelers won the Chase Claypool trade. With the 32nd-overall pick, the Steelers selected Joey Porter, Jr. Plenty of people seem to be excited about Porter. It's almost the exact opposite regarding Claypool. There is no secret that Chase Claypool did not live up to expectations after the trade.

Claypool finished the 2022 season with 451 receiving yards and one touchdown. Out of those 451 yards, only 140 came with the Chicago Bears. That's an average of only 20 yards per game. The lone touchdown was also with Pittsburgh and not Chicago. Clearly, Chase Claypool struggled to produce. However, he deserves the opportunity to prove himself this season before we can truly weigh the trade.

It should be pointed out that not everyone believes Chase Claypool will be given that opportunity. Many people seem upset by the fact that Claypool did not participate during mandatory minicamp and others are even more upset about him modeling in Paris during the Chicago Bears downtime. Claypool's work ethic keeps popping up and Marc Silverman of ESPN Chicago stated a few weeks ago that he has an inside source stating that many within the Bears organization are not thrilled with Claypool.

Not to mention, he was not only modeling but serving as an NFL Global Ambassador — helping further the NFL's reach among the young population throughout Europe. Remember what happened last offseason with the Bears' wide receivers? Byron Pringle was charged with reckless driving with a minor and David Moore was arrested on drugs and weapons charges. Hopefully, most of you would prefer to see him modeling than running into legal issues off the field.
