This statement and the recent backlash have at least one person thinking he's on the roster bubble. Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox recently named eight players who could be on the roster bubble and Claypool was one of those names. He cited the lack of production, the addition of new weapons, Claypool's offseason thus far, and in a strange way, how the team could save $3 million dollars if they cut him.

I'm not always right when it comes to what I believe is going to happen with the Chicago Bears, but I am confident that the team isn't going to cut ties with him. Claypool might not be as good as he thinks he is, but he's also better than many other receivers in the league. He will be given an opportunity to prove that over the course of the 2023 season and if he succeeds could see a contract extension. If he fails, then he will likely be allowed to walk in free agency. Cutting him before the start of the 2023 season, to maybe save some money, seems far-fetched.

I would have to imagine that Chase Claypool is safe to make the 53-man roster this offseason unless he commits a heinous crime. What I expect to happen is the Chicago Bears expect him to be healthy for training camp. prove himself and then they keep him on the roster opposite D.J. Moore. It will be interesting how this all shakes out in the end, but he should play until at least the 2023 NFL trade deadline.
