The Bears should extend Darnell Mooney

Next offseason will be a very interesting one when it comes to the wide receiver position. The Bears have two key receivers going into the last year of their contracts, Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool.

Focusing on Mooney, specifically, the Bears have to keep him around. There is no way they can let him go, especially because of the relationship he's built with Justin Fields. Of course, D.J. Moore is going to be the number one. But, Mooney is as solid of a number two receiver as you can get in this league.

And, Mooney would likely come fairly cheap. He hasn't had a monstrous season yet, but he's shown plenty of reasons why he is valuable to this offense. The way he can work the middle of the field to get open and his ability to be Fields' go-to deep threat are two huge assets to his game.

The Bears are in good shape in terms of cap space, too, so re-signing Mooney shouldn't be a problem. Keep he, Moore and Fields together, and watch the offense flourish. This is only the beginning for Mooney and the Bears.
