2. What is Jaylon Jones role with the Chicago Bears?

One indictment on Greg Stroman heading into the season is that he could not make the roster until week 18. It is nice that the Chicago Bears wanted to see what he could do, but rookie UDFA Jaylon Jones played 466 snaps for the Chicago Bears. He actually did not play week 18, but he was worn down from starting the two weeks prior.

The rookie UDFA was thrown into the starting lineup as early as week five. Hello, Justin Jefferson, and welcome to the NFL. Jones felt it. Still, he fought on and is back.

It is interesting to see Stroman ahead of Jones this year because Jones did beat him out last year. Perhaps the play on the field will settle that again. Or maybe they gave the younger player the shot last year, and he did not perform, so now they are leaning on Stroman. Either way, it is impressive for Jones to have that many snaps at his status, and he is once again fighting to make the roster as a depth cornerback who could make his name on special teams.

Because of the defensive snaps Jones only played 151 special teams snaps, but because they do not need him on defense, he can now get a lot more work in that area. That is if he can lock down a spot in the next three weeks.
