Is this the wide receiver most likely to be traded to Chicago Bears this offseason?

The Chicago Bears need to be in the market for a wide receiver. While they already traded pick 32 for Chase Claypool, that is not going to fill out the entirety of their room. Fans have been huddled around the idea of Tee Higgins, but the Bengals have shot all ideas down.

Still, fans are looking for the A.J. Brown of 2023, the quick fix who changes dynamics. That may not happen every year, but if there is a candidate this season to be in a similar situation it would be Courtland Sutton.

Should Chicago Bears trade for Courtland Sutton?

Most fans gloss over the idea of Sutton because on the surface the Broncos only save $6M to move on from him. However, if they wait until June 1, the team would actually save $14M. The trade could obviously be agreed upon, but not executed until then.

So, the Chicago Bears could see what goes in the NFL draft, and if that does not work, there is still a chance, maybe even a greater chance that Courtland Sutton gets traded.

Beyond that, Matthew Berry of NBC Sports said there was talk about Sutton being available at the NFL Combine.

"As long as we are talking Denver, I'm told the Broncos are quietly shopping . Not actively pushing him, but definitely trying to see if there's a trade market for him and if they get a decent offer, would move him."

This is on top of of other discussons stemming earlier than the combine that also said that Sutton could be the name on the move when so many saw Jerry Jeudy being the more likely trade candidate.

Courtland Sutton is not Tee Higgins, and he is not A.J. Brown, but in a free agency period that has fans hoping for Jakobi Meyers, and a questionable wide receiver class, he may be one of the better impact players available.

As for the fit, there is a question that he may be a bid redudant to Chase Claypool. Still, both of them have speed down the field, and it would make sense for the Chicago Bears to stack bigger bodies for Justin Fields, who loves to let his players go and get it.

The compensation will be tough to figure out, but because the team may trade a future pick, or at least will not be trading for Sutton until after they trade down, it could be easier to navigate when the time comes. Beyond that, if the Broncos wait until after the draft they will not have many suitors, and will mostly just be doing this to clear the $14M.

The Chicago Bears could have them in a good spot and trade a pick much later, a few rounds later for Courtland Sutton than they just traded for Chase Claypool. When you break it down that way, it does make sense from the Bears perspective.
