The Chicago Bears need to see what Daurice Fountain can do

In two preseason games, the Chicago Bears have seen Daurice Fountain make some amazing plays. In the first game against the Titans, he only had one catch, but it was a nice catch for 25 yards. While playing against the Colts, he led the team with five catches for 85 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown grab was a fantastic contested catch for 35 yards.

Fountain was a fifth-round pick by the Colts in 2018. He stands 6'2" and adds some size to the roster. He's dealt with injuries throughout his career but spent time with the Chiefs in 2021 while Ryan Poles was still part of the front office. Heading into Week 3 of the Preseason, I'd like to see Fountain see some reps with Justin Fields and the starters. He deserves an opportunity to prove if he deserves a spot over guys like Dante Pettis, Velus Jones and even Equanimeous St. Brown.

Brown is likely making the roster for his blocking alone. Jones has shown struggles again this offseason and it might be time to just cut bait or put him on the practice squad and see if another team claims him. Pettis just came back from injury and is currently behind Jones and St. Brown. Fountain should see if he can replicate his performance in the first two games while going up against better competition. This is what the preseason is all about.
