The Chicago Bears took care of business last weekend when they beat the Tennessee Titans 23-17. Preseason scores do not matter, but individual play does. We saw Justin Fields hit three short passes. In fact, two of them did not even go beyond the line of scrimmage. Those two turned into touchdowns of over 55 yards though. The first was to DJ Moore who took the wide receiver screen 62 yards for the score. Next went to Khalil Herbert who caught the running back screen and took it 56 yards for another touchdown. Fields ended the day 3/3 for 129 yards and two touchdowns. Not bad!

Some fans (and fans of other teams) are not looking to give Fields any credit. The thing is, even though these passes were nothing to gasp about, he put them where they needed to be and his playmakers took care of business. This is what we as fans were screaming for last season. Too often, it felt like Fields had to do everything himself. Now, he has some help and fans should be ecstatic. Chicago Bears fans should also love what they saw from a limited snap count by the offensive line. Darnell Wright looked great on his seven snaps (wish he played more) and others played well too.

The Chicago Bears played very well vs the Titans in Preseason Week 1

On the defensive side of the ball, the starting unit (not everyone was in) allowed the Titans to march down the field on the opening drive to go up 7-0. There were even flashes on this drive, most notably by Kyler Gordon, but the Chicago Bears couldn't get off the field on three different third downs. The Titans only converted two other third downs the rest of the day though as the defense tightened up.

As far as starters go, Tyrique Stevenson, Kyler Gordon, and Eddie Jackson played well to start the game. Then, backups, Terrell Lewis, Trevis Gipson, Zacch Pickens, and more started to step into their roles. The backups on the offensive side didn't do as well as the defensive backups as Tyler Scott and Velus Jones, Jr. headlined two very down days. With poor performances coupled with some great showings, here are four players who should be sliding down the depth chart.
