Where does the Chicago Bears WR room rank after adding D.J. Moore?
By Evan Bruner
So far, I’ve listed 12 teams with receiver rooms that are comfortably better than the Bears and ten teams with comfortably worse ones. That leaves nine other teams that I believe to be in a similar area as Chicago.
These teams, in no particular order, are the Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Chargers, New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Denver Broncos.
All of these teams are close enough together that there isn’t a definitive answer. To be fair, there are several teams here that I would argue have better wide receivers than the Bears going off current rosters. Those being the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Chargers, and New Orleans Saints, though this would change if Michael Thomas is moved.
This would mean 17 is the highest the Bears would rank, and many would argue against putting them ahead of teams like Dallas and Detroit.
There isn’t an exact science to ranking the top wide receiver groups in football. Still, this imprecise method allows us to see just how far the Bears have come since last year.
Having this position go from bottom three to middle-of-the-pack shows great progress, and the Bears are making a real effort to fill one of their greatest needs. An average group of wide receivers should be enough for fans to get a real look at Justin Fields’ capabilities as a passer and offer the offense a higher ceiling.
