3 Running back options to replace David Montgomery in the 2023 NFL Draft

Best RB Prospect for the Chicago Bears: Roschon Johnson, Texas
Roschon Johnson might be the worst-kept secret among the NFL draft community as you would expect Bijan Robinson’s backup to be very overlooked because of how high-profile Robinson is. Despite being Robinson’s backup for the bulk of his career, Johnson has always delivered when given a chance as his dynamic playmaking ability was always on display, in addition to great balance and vision.
Johnson’s great size at 6’2 225 pounds and being the complete package at runningback could set him up to be a true three-down back at the next level. Johnson has all the tools to be a premier back in the league and set up the Bears with their starting running back for the next 5+ years. Johnson also has very low mileage for your average runningback prospect with four years of college ball under his belt.
Johnson is the best value pick among running backs in this draft in my opinion because while everyone is drooling over Bijan Robinson, someone is going to sneak in the back door on day two and swipe Johnson who has some of the best potential in the draft. Despite the smaller sample size, Johnson is a risk anyone should be willing to take, which is why I anticipate him to get drafted on day two. And the risk is a no-brainer because he and his Texas counterpart might be the two highest potential running backs in the draft.
