Chicago Bears Draft: 5 Running back targets Ryan Poles must consider
By Evan Bruner
Chicago Bears RB Option No.4: Roschon Johnson
If you’ve heard anything about Texas Longhorns football in the past year, it’s probably been about how Bijan Robinson is the best running back prospect in recent memory.
This praise for Robinson is warranted. He has all the tools necessary to be an elite running back. With that said, Robinson’s presence has overshadowed his teammates, even fellow running mate Roschon Johnson.
Though used sparingly throughout his time in Austin, Johnson has demonstrated exemplary power, fighting through tackles to gain additional yardage.
At 6’2, and 223 pounds, Johnson has the frame to be a brawler at the next level. This hard-nosed running style fills a major need in Chicago’s backfield, and the smaller sample size could lead to Johnson having more upside than is currently realized.
There’s no shame in being second fiddle to one of the most complete college running backs of this generation. Johnson’s skill set and play style would fit nicely in Chicago’s offense.
The combination of his power and Khalil Herbert’s speed would make life hard on opposing defenses. Throw in Justin Fields and D’onta Foreman, and the Bears have one of the most unique and versatile rushing attacks in all of pro football.
