Chicago Bears Trade Scenario: Washington Commanders

This hypothetical relies mainly on the possibility of quarterback Will Levis slipping out of the top eight selections, which is not necessarily likely, but could certainly happen. Quarterbacks fall at the top of the draft all the time, and look no further than Justin Fields being the 11th overall selection for proof of that sentiment.

If Levis is in fact available at the ninth overall selection, the Commanders potentially lead a short list of teams who would be interested in moving up. Currently, Washington has three quarterbacks on their roster, including Jacoby Brissett, who signed a one year deal this offseason, Sam Howell, and Jake Fromm. Adding Levis could be their shot at finding their franchise quarterback, who would not have to start right away due to the acquisition of Brissett, a great veteran mentor for any young quarterback.

With a roster that already features a solid offensive line, good skill position players and athletic defensive players across the board, Washington could potentially send the 16th overall pick this year and a first-round pick next year to Chicago in order to draft Levis 9th overall. While this likely wouldn't give the Bears an additional high draft pick in this year's draft, the team would own both the Panthers' and the Commanders' first round pick in 2024. This would be a great, long-term investment for the team, so if Levis is still available at number nine, a trade like this could definitely be on the table.
