Chicago Bears fantasy football: 3 concerning stats for Khalil Herbert
2. D'onta Foreman can give the Chicago Bears explosion
The initial thought was that Foreman was the chain mover, and the player who could grind out the games, but Herbert is the big-play hitter who makes a little more happen. It is fair that Herbert creates a little bit more, but because of the size of Foreman, he can really get moving in the open field, and he is harder to bring down.
Last season Foreman had a 33.2% breakaway run rate, and Herbert was at 31.%. This is not bad for Herbert by any stretch, but more focusing on the reality that Foreman was doing almost as much as Herbert in this area, and he was providing more in the short runs that are not losses.
When you think of the contract that David Montgomery signed, and the reality that the Chicago Bears only pivoted to Foreman when they knew that their time with Montgomery was done you assume he is the better bc. However, he is younger and has more time to prove himself, but last season Foreman was better in most areas as a true running back. He is just older and has an injury history, so no team was going to pay up for that as they would for Montgomery.
If the Chicago Bears can get some of the big plays with more efficiency then you may be seeing Herbert in the same role, or even slowly being in a lesser role. That is because the duo may actually turn into Roschon Johnson and Foreman.
