3 former Chicago Bears players we’d like to see return in 2024

Could a reunion or two be in the future?

2. Cordarrelle Patterson

One of the areas the Bears need to figure out, this offseason, is in their return game. Third-year pro Velus Jones Jr. is one of my picks to get booted off the roster this year, with Ryan Poles admitting failure on that pick and cutting his losses.

Jones cannot field punts and is hardly used on offense. He isnt a complete wide receiver and doesn't have a wide array of routes he can run, thus he's been relegated to more of an "offensive weapon" role, but again, he's rarely used.

Why not bring back Cordarrelle Patterson in that type of role? If the Bears want an offensive weapon who can also return kicks, there's nobody better than Patterson, even at his age. Patterson is set to turn 33 here in a few days, but he's still more than capable of being a top-tier kick returner in this league. Not to mention, if he gets the ball in creative ways, he's able to be of use.

Patterson was a fan favorite during his two years with the Bears back in 2019 and 2020, and he was also an All Pro in both of those seasons. Fans loved him. The city loved him. His teammates loved him. Patterson would come as a lower cost type of signing but someone who would have a big impact.
