The Chicago Bears need depth at safety

The final position we need to address is the safety position. I'm not going to separate it out as free safety and strong safety because this team is set as far as starters go at both positions. Instead, the team needs to find safety depth. Since this is just depth, I'm not going to worry about the top safety names like Jessie Bates or Jordan Poyer. We will only look at depth pieces.

  • Keanu Neal
  • Deon Bush
  • DeAndre Houston-Carson
  • Jonathan Owens
  • Juan Thornhill
  • Jonathan Abram
  • Damontae Kazee

This group is not great. However, this is just depth. There are a few guys on here who could push to start on some teams. Those names include Keanu Neal and Jonathan Owens. Honestly, Juan Thornhill should be a starter and not even included on this list. He was the starting free safety of the Chiefs last season. He's just not an elite name.

My Bears Pick: DeAndre Houston-Carson

If I were Ryan Poles, I am bringing back DeAndre Houston-Carson. He has proven he can handle playing on the field in this defense and is also able to help contribute on special teams. They might as well bring back the guy they already know is willing to play hard and contribute as needed.
