Chicago Bears Free Agent Target: Isaiah Wynn, OT
If Poles is so vehemently opposed to giving money to older players, former patriots right tackle Isaiah Wynn becomes a compelling option.
Another buy-low candidate, Wynn, is coming off an injury-ridden 2022, which saw his value drop considerably. Much like the case for singing Ford, what Wynn lacks in recent performances he makes up for with his body of work.
Before the 2022 season, Wynn was seen as one of the best young tackles in the AFC. Injuries and inconsistency in pass protection have since set him back.
While Wynn’s skill set that favors run-blocking isn’t quite what Chicago is looking for, he’s still only 26, and has played both tackle positions and even some guard with solid results.
Before his injury-shortened 2022 season, Wynn had yet to finish with a PFF offense grade below 69.9. This consistency made him a staple of New England’s offensive line and helped propel the Patriots' rushing attack.
Even if the Bears are satisfied with Braxton Jones’ development, they need more tackles, and Wynn’s youth and versatility make him a solid fit.
The contract estimates for Wynn have been scattered, but the truth is the Chicago Bears have the resources to make the deal come together.
