Chicago Bears Free Agent Target: Justin Britt, C

I think the player on this list I could see most likely signing with the Chicago Bears is Justin Britt. I know Ryan Poles and company have made it known they feel comfortable with Cody Whitehair moving back to center, but let's not forget how bad his snaps were at times. Not to mention, he hasn't played center in a few years and never with Justin Fields. Lukas Patrick looked downright awful last year and I don't fully trust him to man the middle either. If the Bears are looking for some veteran depth, Britt would make for a great addition.

Some of you might be wondering, but why Britt? Well, there is a slight connection to offensive line coach, Chris Morgan. Britt was drafted in 2014 by the Seattle Seahawks. He started all 16 games for the Seahawks at right tackle. Morgan was the assistant offensive line coach of the Seahawks at the time. Maybe that one-year connection is enough to bring Britt to Chicago. There are reports from March that he is expected to retire, however, until that actually happens, I would consider signing him to a cap-friendly one-year deal.

Next. Bears could trade for a defensive end. dark

Britt was a dominant run blocker his rookie season but struggled with the pass rush. He moved to left guard the following season (Morgan was gone) and struggled. In 2016, he moved to center and has not looked back. Britt has not been the best center in the league by any means, but he has seen above-average and average seasons at the position. He brings versatility as a backup to play multiple positions along the line if needed. He also could start at center if the Whitehair experiment fails.
