Ryan Poles leaks what the Chicago Bears need to see from Justin Fields

I am getting a sense of deja vu. According to Rapoport, the Chicago Bears must be blown away to move on from Justin Fields for a rookie quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft. We know this is Ryan Poles speaking through the media because he said the EXACT same thing last offseason when the Bears were gifted the first-overall pick. We saw Fields return and the Panthers gave a boatload of capital to select Bryce Young. It's early, but Young doesn't look to be the answer and was my QB2 by a mile behind C.J. Stroud. Now, the Bears have the Panthers' 2024 first-round pick and it could be first overall again.

Rapoport goes on to report that the Chicago Bears are looking to see the following from Justin Fields over the next seven weeks:

  1. Consistency
  2. Playing well in two-minute and red-zone situations
  3. Limit his turnovers

We saw some of this in the Detroit game on Sunday. He was consistent coming off of a four-game absence due to a thumb injury. He looked good for the majority of the game and I wouldn't hang the loss on him either. However, his inability to come back in the fourth quarter, or maintain drives to hold leads will have some fans scratching their heads. Others will be screaming for Drake Maye or Caleb Williams. Personally, I saw a coaching staff scared that lost the game, but Fields will take unwarranted blame too.
