3 Local draft prospects who could end up on the Chicago Bears
By Evan Bruner
Chicago Bears Draft Target: Adetomiwa Adeboware, DT - Northwestern
Current projection: Late second to early third round
Another note on Poles is that he has shown a penchant for athletes. There aren’t many players in the class that embody athleticism on the defensive line better than Adetomiwa Adeboware.
He ran a blazing 4.49 40-yard dash at 282 pounds, and also impressed with a 37.5-inch vertical leap and 10’5 broad jump. This athletic profile gives Adeboware the potential to move outside if he ends up being too small to play tackle. These traits also allow Adeboware to chase ball carriers down from behind in a fashion rarely seen by a defensive lineman.
Admittedly, an athlete of this caliber wouldn’t make it past the first round without some concerns. Adeboware doesn’t have many true moves, as he mostly relies on his explosiveness to win at the line. He’s also an unpolished tackler and has trouble wrapping up. This is why he is viewed as a work in progress.
Still, the unteachable physical gifts Adeboware possesses make him well worth the risk. He was a productive player from the inside in college, which isn’t easy to do, and if his team chooses to move him outside at the next level, there is real double-digit sack potential.
Many scouts have become infatuated with Pitt’s Calijah Kancey. Adeboware offers the same athletic upside, but will likely come off the board a round later, making for a solid upside selection.
