2. Micah Baskerville is a sleeper to make the Chicago Bears roster

The Chicago Bears' depth at linebacker is depleted. It has led to Micah Baskerville getting a lot of work, and so far, he has taken advantage. Tremaine Edmunds is down and injured, but more than that is Dylan Cole and DeMarquis Gates.

These two are crucial because they both had shots at making the roster on the back end. Now, it is hard to imagine unless they get on the field Monday and start lighting it up. While they have been out, and Edmunds has bumped Jack Sanborn up the totem pole, it has led to Baskerville getting significant work, sometimes with the starters.

In three linebacker sets, Baskerville started, but he was behind Sanborn and Noah Sewell. However, once Sanborn came off, we saw Sewell and Baskerville for a bit. That is key because he is currently ahead of Mykal Walker, who the Bears just claimed this week.

Walker may be getting up to speed, and he could pass Baskerville soon. At the same time, Baskerville was better on the defensive side and was a stud on special teams in the second preseason game. If he can lock down an ST role, he will lock himself on the roster. Both Gates and Cole had a shot to make it so they could both get replaced by Baskerville and Walker. Baskerville just needs one more strong week.
