Which Chicago Bears were losers in Week 14 vs. Lions?

The Chicago Bears were able to hold onto a lead against the Detroit Lions this time as they came away with another divisional win. They were the better team for almost the entire game, but there are still areas of inconsistency that need to be cleaned up if the Bears are going to shoot for a miraculous playoff berth.

Chicago Bears Week 14 Loser No. 3: DeMarcus Walker

The Chicago Bears found a quality, veteran edge rusher from the Titans this past offseason in DeMarcus Walker, and got him on a very reasonable contract. They imagined him being one of their top pass rushers this season with his inside and outside versatility. While he has not been bad this year, his production has not been quite what they imagined.

With the signing of Yannick Ngakoue and the addition of Montez Sweat midseason, snaps have not been as abundant for Walker. While he is still used as a rotational piece, guys like Justin Jones and Gervon Dexter have had the hot hand lately. Walker only registered one tackle against the Lions, and his snap count percentage is down to 10% this week.

He was being used as the main interior pass rusher earlier in the season as well as a defensive end, but now he is in the backup role with Rasheem Green. Walker has just not produced enough to earn more snaps, and lately, they have gotten better production out of the four key players. The rotation has not been as even so Walker has sort of been an afterthought. He is a nice player to have as a rotational piece, though, and hopefully, he can start to provide a spark when he gets on the field and the starters get a rest.

The Chicago Bears are trending up right now and can technically sneak into the playoffs if they win out this season. In order to do so, they will have to continue to tune up the small details and try to get more production from their depth pieces. They have been relying on their stars a lot lately, so it will be time for the other players to step up as well.
