8 major changes the Chicago Bears need to make
By Ryan Heckman
3. Move Cody Whitehair back to center
The Bears' offensive line has not been good, nor have they been healthy. As a whole, the line is a mess. Braxton Jones is on injured reserve and will miss at least four weeks. Teven Jenkins has been out since the start of the season. Nate Davis was out for personal reasons and has hardly practiced since joining the team.
For some reason, the Bears have decided that their second-best lineman overall, and the best healthy lineman right now, should be playing out of position. Cody Whitehair is by far better at center, but is still at guard, with Lucas Patrick starting at center for this team.
Through three weeks, Patrick has been horrible. Pro Football Focus has given him a grade of just 43.3 overall. He has played 124 offensive snaps, with 88 of them being pass blocking snaps. He's given up six pressures and has been almost a non-factor in run blocking. Whitehair needs to be back at the center of this line, anchoring these guys like he's done in the past.
