Luke Getsy vs. Vance Joseph
Picture two dogs in a shadowy alley, their ribs showing from malnutrition, fighting over a steak that was just thrown out the back door of a restaurant. That desperation and urgency is what Luke Getsy and Vance Joseph should be coaching with this week because both coordinators are on the hottest of hot seats.
Getsy has presided over a Bears offense that has looked listless and disorganized through three weeks, lacking in both big plays and sustained drives. Justin Fields has regressed under his coaching, while Chase Claypool has yet to make an impact after a disappointing introduction to the team last year.
Joseph, now in his second tour of duty with the Broncos after being fired two years into his head coaching career, is already the scapegoat just three games into his stint as DC. The Broncos have offered no resistance to opposing offenses, giving up 122 points through three weeks.
Both coaches must be looking at this as their last stand with their respective fanbases. For Getsy, if his offense can't score against a team that just allowed 70 points, that could be the final straw. For Joseph, he's facing an offense that has looked completely dysfunctional. The Bears' offensive line has been unable to keep Justin Fields upright, and on the few occasions when they have, Fields hasn't been able to do anything anyway.
This battle could be a "loser leaves town" match. Who will come out on top?
