The Chicago Bears have lost nearly their entire secondary to injuries. Kyler Gordon has missed the first three weeks of the year and counting due to a hand injury in the preseason. Eddie Jackson is dealing with a foot injury that kept him out this week vs. the Chiefs. Jaylon Johnson, Jaquan Brisker and Tyrique Stevenson all left the game vs. the Chiefs. Brisker and Stevenson came back in, but Stevenson left again shortly after his return. This time, his day was done. The secondary was depleted but I don't think it would have mattered. The Chicago Bears got embarrassed.

If you missed it, Tyrique Stevenson made a bang-bang play against Chiefs running back, Isiah Pacheco. Stevenson stopped Pacheco from scoring with a hard hit near the goal line. Unfortunately, he made helmet-to-helmet contact that ended with an unsportsmanlike penalty. The play happened quickly and the severity of the hit wasn't on purpose, but Stevenson left with the worst of it. He immediately grabbed his head area while lying on the sidelines waiting to be checked out by the medical staff.

Shortly after, the broadcast shows Stevenson entering the blue medical tent we all assume it was to be tested for a concussion. Even the Chicago Bears social media account reported that he was being checked for a concussion.

It did not take long though for Tyrique Stevenson to come back into the game. He made a tackle in the second quarter but then left the field again to never return. This time, he was ruled questionable to return due to illness.

Now, on Monday, we get a chance to hear from Matt Eberflus again and he was asked directly about the situation regarding Tyrique Stevenson.

"It was weird because they told me both things, you know. He's in concussion protocol but really it just ended up being a neck. He never got checked for concussion protocol, it was just his neck. "

Matt Eberflus goes on to defend his player for the unsportsmanlike penalty stating he thought it could have gone both ways and he thought Stevenson made a great play to stop the touchdown. However, the beat reporter was confused by Eberflus' original statement and asked him to clarify since Stevenson was ruled questionable to return due to illness when he left the second time.

"Yeah, I don't remember exactly what it was. I don't remember from yesterday exactly what it was. [Asks someone nearby to confirm] Yeah, it was illness. They said it was that. We aren't trying to hide anything."

I'm sure they aren't trying to cover anything up, but it just looks bad that the head coach cannot speak to something like this. Where is the attention to detail? It seems to emulate the lack of details we are seeing from the players on the field as well. More reasons and examples on why Matt Eberflus is in way over his head.
